Letter From The Editor

Yaya

When one becomes successful, they gain alot and lose alot. This week I learnt just that. I also learnt that through the hardships one goes they need to learn to stand up because it is not the hurdle that counts it is the how you jump and overcome that challenge. Success attracts a variety of friends. The hardest part about this is being able to distinguish between your true friends and those are parasites.

People tend top judge you once you are successful and expect much more than they would before all of your successes and its normal, because at the end of the day we are all human beings. Dont be afraid to be yourself and never apologise for saying what you mean, avoid drama, and appreciate those around you ( not the parasites).

Stay Blessed
& Remember... Fabulosity Rules Everything!!!!

Ezra Mr Brand New!!

Ezra

I've come across a lot of successful young adults, but when I came across Ezra I was really stunned the most. We always talk about being humble, down to earth, and always remaining thankful but only a few us do what we preach when we actually get a taste of success.

Ezra is one guy that remains humble throughout his journey of making his dreams a reality. Through his path to success Ezra has taught me how to appreciate the small things in life, and give thanks for what I already have been blessed with.

Today we get to know who Mr Brand New is, and much more...

Q. Ice Cream Mag Is featuring A variety of young successful individuals
making major waves in the entertainment industry. What is Your
contribution to it and what do u do?
A. I am a music producer/songwriter. I make all types of genres but my
main influence is hip hop and RnB. I'm bringing back flair, raw n
honest talent into the arts as an industry.
Q. Describe yourself in ten words.
A. A very chilled, sarcastic, honest, hungry young lad i am!
Q. Aspire to inspire before we expire" What does this quote mean to you?A. It means make the most of your position, not only to entertain but
empower and provoke minds, make people think. Lead by example and
stand by your beliefs.

Q. Where to from here? You can only reach higher heights. What are
your future plans?
A. Its been a great year, I've had the rare opportunity to do film
score for a local movie called Zion. I'm definitely aiming higher in
the future. I plan on releasing my instrumental EP next month. Its
gonna be really special! Also working with a few artists and I'm really
excited.
Q. Ice Cream Mag's main mission is to inspire youth and help them
realise and reach their dreams. What advice can you give the youth?
Especially those who want to follow your path in entertainment?
A. Integrity, honesty and a constant hunger for knowledge is the key
to this industry. Learn to take criticism and build on that
foundation. Have a story, a message, a mission statement. What
separates you from the rest is the genuine belief and honesty in your
craft. Entertain with grace and humility. Develop showmanship and make
this beautiful music. :)

Letter From Chief Editor

Thats Me!!!*

Greetings!!*

It is finally Friday!! Many of us are excited. Some are already at school, work, and well... Some are still in bed.

This weeks issue is all about fun, expect colour, a little inspiration, and an insight on what to expect this spring.
Fabulosity is not about what you wear or who you associate yourself with... Fabulosity is about being independent. Having your own stuff, being in control of your life, and not relying on anyone for anything...

Wake Up, and Lets Make Our Dreams a Reality!!!

POSITIVE ENERGY RULES!!!

My Inspiration

He always tweets about the music industry, business politics, tweets to his friends, and also gives alot of advise to the youth on how to achieve their goals and constantly stay ontop of their game.

I am inspired by Tibz not only because of his achievements but mostly cause of his humble begginings and how he keeps reflecting back to those beginnings and never forgets where he comes from.

As AKA, and DJ Fanatics manager, the owner of ShowLove, and Head of marketing for Head Honcho his experiences in various industries, all his knowledge, and of course his fashion sense can only be admired by many.

Don't stop reaching out to the youth we need it.

Tibz and AKA

Ladies That Inspire Me

As we all know it's womens month so I just want to recognise all the ladies out there that are reaching their dreams and are constantly being great role models that grils can look up to...

This week I have Dineo Moeketsi and Claire Mawisa
Now I love both of these women. Having met both of them all I can do is look up to them and constantly appreciate their hard work and dedication.
The following is just snapshots of these beautiful, intelligent ladies.

THANK YOU FOR INSPIRING ME TO EVEN REACH GREATER HEIGHTS...

Spring Must Haves!!*

So Spring is around the corner and most of us, if not all of us are super excited about this spring. We are expecting a crazy spring collection range from Head Honcho, Ama KipKip, David Tlale Collection, Vandal Wear, and a sneak preview from GalXBoy

Now i've realised that Ray Bans' have become an accessory. They are no longer used to protect your eyes from thr blazing sun but they are now used as an accessory. Formal Wear, Street Wear, even Casual Wear.

Can we all agree that Ray Bans are a MUST HAVE this spring?!?!

Violent Lips

Violent Lips!!*

I love animal print, and when I found out that I can actually have Animal Print lips I totally went into this crazy trance filled with fabulosity. Violent Lips is not lipstick so it doesnt fade, It doesnt make marks on your clothes, or your cocktail glass.
Jessie J, Lady Gaga, Keyshia Cole, and other celebrities are going crazy over Violent Lips.
Violent Lips is in fact a temporary lip tattoo. Yes its THAT COOL!!!

Don't believe me??

I wasnt born the a shining silver spoon in my mouth and I when i see people that are in simiar circumstaces as me but still overcome all obstacles in order to reach their dreams make me happy and proud.

The youth of South Africa are a very powerful force as one. We just need to stop being lazy and start reading, researching, and empoering each other.

We got a chance to catch up with out favourite DJ..Fanatic and find out more about him and what he got up to during Mandela Day and loads loads more... Read On....

WOW!! I didn’t think I made that much of an impact in the entertainment industry, but anyway... my contribution to the industry is to make people forget about their worries and make them relieve their stress on the dance floor.

2.     We want to know the person behind the camera, behind the DJ Set. You’ve been described as quiet but loud, shy, a hard worker, and a total sweetheart. Who is DJ Fanatic?

LOL!! Well I’m not sure about the “quiet but loud” part but the rest does really explain what type of a person I am... Fanatic (born Thabiso Maphutse) is a humble young up and coming DJ from Vosloorus (Ekurhuleni) who’s life basically revolves around music whether its house or hip hop

3.     “Aspire to Inspire before we Expire” what does this quote mean to you?
To me it means that before you die, make sure that during your time on earth you have shared your experiences with other people who want to follow the same path as you in life (Positive direction I hope). You will be remembered, and leave a good mark in peoples’ hearts.

The fact that you are not the only DJ in the industry and that there’s someone out there who wants a slice of the cake in the game. In order to overcome them you need to find ways of staying relevant at all times. Please your crowd, try to be unique and try to keep your promoters happy. Practise and make sure that you don’t treat it as your hobby but as your career..

5.     IceCream Magazines Chief Editor – Yaya was at the Cheese kids’ #Mandela67 event and spotted you there. How important is giving back to society, especially those that are less privileged to you?
YEAH!! Had to do my 67min for Madiba, crutches and all after my car accident... giving back to the community is very important but it shouldn’t just be done on #MandelaDay. Whenever we have time we should give our time to the less privileged to remind us how lucky we are to be where we are whereas some people don’t have the ability to do such things.
Thabiso Maphutse 's photo on Lockerz     This is probably what everyone says when asked to give advice but in all honesty it’s true! We need to stay in school... Education is important. Every industry has a bit of education that’s needed in order for things to go according to your plan.

Graeme Swanepoel

Graeme Swaneoel the crazy energetic prodicer, director, co - owner of NV Pictues is a classic example of what we as the youth shoud be working towards.
www.twitter.com/GraemeSwanepoel
The inspiring Graeme Swanepoel agreed to sit down with Ice Cream Mag and have the interview done.

1. Who is Graeme
I’m a film director/producer, and co-founder of NV Pictures. I specialise in reality content, commercials and music videos. But I am looking to get into feature film pretty soon... I created and directed shows such as CREAMCARTEL and RUNNING WITH REPS. I promote local celebrities through youth based street culture through our shows, and want to put the SA entertainment industry on an international spotlight.

2. Describe yourself in 10 ways.

Crazy, Fun, Creative, Mlungu (white person), Social, Inspired, Street, Chilled, Local, Love

3. Aspire to Inspire before you expire.

You have to inspire people around you in order to make a difference. Whether it’s on a small or large scale, creative’s seek to inspire, as it’s that inspiration that makes a difference in the world.

4. July is known worldwide because of our former president - Nelson Mandela. on the 18th of July it was his birthday. What did you do for Mandela Day and how did you spend your 67min??

Graeme

It was my birthday!! Madiba and me baby!!! So to be deadly honest with you. I took it totally chilled (bad example I know)

 5. Where to from here??

Some ground breaking reality shows that will expose SA culture to the rest of the world. We want the USA to take avid interest in SA / African culture as we have stories here that are unique, that need to be shown on an international platform... That and a feature film.

4.     What challenges do you face as a DJ? And how do you overcome them?

1.     IceCream Magazine is featuring a variety of young successful individuals that are making major waves in the entertainment industry.  What is your contribution to the entertainment industry? What do u do?
